What are the differences between an Onsite and a Hosted phone system?

Onsite and Hosted refer to the two types of VoIP phone systems available for businesses.

 

Onsite/Managed – you own your phone system whether you pay with cash or make a lease payment. The computer that runs the phone system resides at your office in addition to the phones on your desk.

Hosted/Cloud/Virtual –  Instead of purchasing a control unit or server the computer that runs your phone system resides at the server of your originating VoIP Service.  Phone sets are at your office or remote office/worker and have calls directed by the VoIP Server.
